41 South Salmon & Ginseng
Find out why pristine water from the western tiers is so important to the 41 South Salmon and Ginseng farm. Walk with Ed as he feeds the salmon and gets up close to a ginseng plant worth no less than $10,000 before making a delicious smoked salmon wood-fired pizza.
Female Factory
Head to the rural town of Ross where you can visit the last Female Factory to be built in Tasmania. Constructed in 1847, at any given time it housed 120 women, each placed in the ‘crime class’ before being evaluated in the hope of being moved to the ‘hiring section.’
Mona Foma
Listen as curator Brian Ritchie describes Tasmania’s newest music festival, Mona Foma. Not your usual festival, at this annual event you will see everything from guitars being plucked by the feet of birds through to the sound of pipe organ tubes being played by the waves.
Tamar Island Wetlands
Just 10 minutes’ from central Launceston, discover an urban wetlands reserve. Follow 1.7 kilometres of boardwalk through this fascinating reserve, home to more than 50 species of bird and many reptiles including copper head snakes. A haven for photographers and nature lovers, the boardwalk extends all the way to Tamar Island.
Grandvewe Cheesery
Discover Tasmania's only sheep milk cheesery, where you can meet the sheep, taste up to 15 different cheeses and enjoy a wine while viewing the whole process of cheese making and maturing. Watch Ed cook up a delicious Maltagliati with exotic mushrooms using fresh produce from the local area.
The Priory
Just one hours' drive north of Hobart and overlooking the historic township of Bothwell, this 1848 built lodge has recently been stunningly refurbished. Fishing and hunting are just two of the many activities you can enjoy. It's here that Ed cooks up a mouthwatering whisky laquered lamb rack.
The Lair
The Lair is situated just 15kms south of the coastal town of Swansea, this contemporary retreat is perched between the forest and the sea with breathtaking views over Great Oyster Bay. Let Ed show you how to grill crayfish with asparagus, oysters and mountain pesto.
